Opening a 3D model
You use the Select IFC model control in the Model group on the 4D tab of the Ribbon to open 3D models and IFC group models.
The Select IFC model control displays a dropdown list of all the 3D models and IFC group models in the project. 3D models are indicated using a graphic; IFC group models are indicated using a
graphic. If more than one revision of a 3D model exists, you can choose to open any of the available revisions. The control displays "None" when no 3D model is currently open.
To open a 3D model or IFC group model:
- On the 4D tab, in the Model group, click Select IFC model. A dropdown list of all the 3D models and IFC group models in the project appears.
- If more than one revision of the 3D model exists, a + symbol appears to the left of the 3D model name. Click the + to expand the list and view all of the revisions of the 3D model. You can choose to open any of the available revisions. Note that the latest revision always appears at the bottom.
- Click the 3D model or IFC group model that you want to open. If it is not already visible, the IFC Model pane appears, displaying a 3D view of the selected 3D model or IFC group model; if a different 3D model was displayed in the pane before, that 3D model is closed automatically before the newly-selected 3D model or IFC group model appears.
You can also open a 3D model or IFC group model by selecting its row on the 4D tab of the Backstage view and clicking Open Model.
If you have more than one project file open in Asta Powerproject 4D and the 3D model or IFC group model that is currently open is referred to by both project files, the Select IFC model control in the Model group on the 4D tab of the Ribbon updates to display the name of the 3D model or IFC group model if you switch from one project file to another. If you have more than one project file open and the 3D model or IFC group model that is currently open is not referred to by one of the project files, the Select IFC model control in the Model group on the 4D tab of the Ribbon updates to display "Undefined" if you switch from a project file that refers to the 3D model or IFC group model to a project file that does not refer to the 3D model or IFC group model.
