Working with new revisions of IFC files

As an IFC file is refined and updated, multiple revisions of the same file can exist. You may start working with an initial revision of an IFC file in Powerproject BIM, then need to move to more up-to-date revisions of the IFC file as and when they become available. The way in which you make new revisions of an IFC file available depends on whether the IFC file is stored locally or in the Elecosoft BIMCloud®, but the way in which you work with them subsequently is the same.

IFC group models do not have specific revisions, although the individual IFC models within an IFC group model can have multiple revisions.

You cannot use more than one revision of a site object: once you have added a site object to an IFC model, you cannot replace it with a newer revision if one becomes available.

Revisions and IFC group models

IFC group models themselves do not have specific revisions. However, the IFC files that correspond to the individual IFC models within an IFC group model may have multiple revisions. IFC group models use whichever revision of an IFC file is specified in the Default revision field on the Details tab of the IFC Model Properties dialog, when the IFC model Library Explorer object is edited.
