Working with the read-only version
If you are using the read-only version of Asta Powerproject, you can view projects within Asta Powerproject but you cannot edit them. For example, using the read-only version you cannot create tasks or library objects, assign resources, or amend the properties of objects within a project in any way. For example, you cannot increase the length of a task, decrease the allocation of a permanent resource, or link tasks.
Using the read-only version, you can move throughout a project's hierarchy, from chart to chart, to view the tasks and allocations within each subchart and expanded task. You can also view the properties of objects, although you cannot amend them.
You can also change aspects of the current view and create new views. For example, you can apply a different spreadsheet table or sort/group to the current view. You can also use Asta Powerproject's powerful bar chart formatting capabilities, via the Format Bar Chart dialog, to specify what you want to display on the bar chart. However, none of this information is saved when you exit a project, so for example, if you change the current view, or create a new view, filter, table or sort/group, these changes will be lost when you exit the project.
You can also display histograms within the read-only version, choosing the objects and graphs you want to display and specifying the layout of your histograms using the Histogram Report Properties dialog.
You can also use the read-only version of Asta Powerproject to print details of projects, surrounding your printouts with a border file of your choice if required. Printouts from the read-only version are of the same high quality as printouts from the standard version of Asta Powerproject.
You can use this online Help to find out how to work with the read-only version of Asta Powerproject. For example, use the Help to discover how to change the current view, create histograms or format the bar chart. However, remember that as you are using the read-only version, you cannot make any changes to your projects; where the Help refers to changing or saving things, these remarks apply only to the standard version.
