Marking progress up to a specific date
A quick way of marking progress on a task or an allocation that is on schedule is to mark it as complete up to a specific date. You do this by assigning a progress period to the task or allocation which is then marked as progressed up to the report date of that progress period.
To mark a task or allocation bar complete up to a specific progress period, do either of the following:
- Select the task or allocation bar, then on the Home tab, in the Progress group, click the Enter Progress dropdown, select Progress Up To, then select the date or progress period up to which you want to progress the task or allocation. If you select Other Date, the Enter Date for Progress dialog appears, in which you can enter the date and time up to which you want to progress the task or allocation. If you select Progress Entry Period, progress is marked on the task or allocation up to the report date of whichever progress period is currently being used to report progress - the progress entry period.
- Drag the progress period from Library Explorer and drop it onto the task or allocation bar.
You cannot mark progress on tasks or allocations using a progress period that has been locked. .
When you assign a progress period to a summary task
When you have a lot of progress to mark on many tasks and most of them are up to date, assign the same progress period to all the tasks (marking them all as completed up to the specified report date), then edit individual tasks that are behind or ahead of schedule using alternative methods of progress entry.
If a task has one or more task activities, the only way to mark progress against it is by marking progress against the task activities themselves - all other methods of marking progress are unavailable for such tasks.
