Client/Server communication details dialog

You use the Client/Server Communication Details dialog to specify the method that your Asta Powerproject client should use to connect to the server, or servers, on which projects are located.

The way that you do this depends on whether your deployment of Asta Enterprise includes a Windows-based or a web-based Server Admin:

  • If your deployment of Asta Enterprise includes a Windows-based Server Admin, the server location details must match those that are specified in Server Admin. In this type of deployment, Asta Powerproject clients can connect to servers using one of two methods, and if a client connects to more than one server, it can use a different method to communicate with each one. You must specify all the communication methods that are used by a client to connect to its servers.
  • If your deployment of Asta Enterprise includes a web-based Server Admin, the server location details comprise 'http://', followed by the name of the server machine on which Server Admin is installed, then a colon, then a port number - 5400 by default - for example http://PROJECTSERVER:5400.
