Security Group Properties dialog - Library Access Rights tab
You use the Library Access Rights tab of the Security Group Properties dialog to specify the access rights that members of the selected security group have to library folders within Library Explorer. You can specify access rights for each individual library entry for some libraries; for other libraries you can only specify access rights for the library itself. You also use this tab to specify access rights to baselines.
If you have specified a security library on the General tab, you should make this library read-only to prevent members of the security group from changing their access rights to the library.

To access the Security Group Properties dialog, right-click a security group in Library Explorer and select Properties.

The dialog displays the following field on the left:
Field | Description |
---|---|
Library hierarchy |
A hierarchical representation of the library objects within the programme of projects, and a list of the programme's baselines.
Click an item in this field to select it. You can then configure the security group's access rights to the selected item using the fields on the right of the dialog.
When you have set rights for an item, the item is displayed in bold, unless you have set it to have the same rights as its parent. |
The dialog displays the following fields and buttons relating to whichever item is currently selected in the Library hierarchy field:
Field/Button | Description |
---|---|
Read | Select this check box to give members of the security group read rights to the selected item. |
Create | Select this check box to allow members of the security group to create items of the selected type. For baselines, this check box also allows members of the security group to import projects as baselines. |
Delete | Select this check box to allow members of the security group to delete items of the selected type. |
Modify | Select this check box to allow members of the security group to edit items of the selected type. For baselines, this check box also allows members of the security group to merge data into baselines. |
Assign | Select this check box to allow members of the security group to assign items of the selected type. Not all library objects can have assign rights. |
Unassign | Select this check box to allow members of the security group to unassign items of the selected type. Not all library objects can have unassign rights. |
Edit Assignments |
Select this check box to allow members of the security group to edit the allocations of the selected permanent resource, consumable resource, or cost centre. This check box does not appear for other types of library object.
You can use this check box to prevent members of a security group from being able to edit the allocations of specific permanent resources, consumable resources or cost centres, even if they are able to edit the resources or cost centres themselves. If the members of the security group do not have 'Modify' rights over a type of allocation in a particular chart or summary group (as specified on the Chart Access Rights tab of the dialog), they cannot edit an allocation in that chart or summary group, even if the Edit Assignments check box is selected for the resource or cost centre in question.
If you clear the Edit Assignments check box, members of the security group cannot edit allocations of the selected resource or cost centre, even if they have been given 'Modify' rights over allocations in one or more charts or summary groups. With the check box cleared, users can still delete or reassign allocations, or switch the allocation type between 'demand' and 'scheduled' - these actions are covered by the Unassign check box the Library Access Rights tab of the Security Group Properties dialog. |
Unrestricted | Click this button to give members of the security group full access to the selected item. |
None | Click this button to give members of the security group no access to all the selected item. |
All As Parent | Click this button to give members of the security group the same access rights to the selected item as they have to the parent object. |
Income | Select this check box to give members of the security group access to income amounts for the type of item that is selected, for example resources or cost and income rates. The security group must have at least read rights to the selected item to have access to its income amounts. If the security group has read and create rights to the selected item, then they will also have read and create rights to its income amounts. |
Expenditure | Select this check box to give members of the security group access to expenditure amounts for the type of item that is selected, for example resources or cost and income rates. The security group must have at least read rights to the selected item to have access to its expenditure amounts. If the security group has read and create rights to the selected item, then they will also have read and create rights to its expenditure amounts. |
