New Messages dialog
You use the New Messages dialog to send instant messages to other users that are connected to the same Enterprise servers to which you are currently connected, or that are collaborating on the same Asta Vision programme. You can send messages to a single user, to more than one user, or to all of the users who are connected to an Enterprise server. You also use this dialog to receive incoming messages from other users.
How to access the New Messages dialog
To access the New Messages dialog, on the Project tab, in the Data group, click Chat.
You can configure Asta Powerproject so that the dialog opens automatically whenever you receive a message from another user connected to the same Enterprise server or working in the same collaboration session, using the Always open chat dialog on incoming message check box on the General tab of the Options dialog.
Messaging is not available in Asta Powerproject standalone (unless you are collaborating on an Asta Vision programme) or Asta Powerproject SaaS.
Explanation of the fields and buttons on the dialog

| Message field | Enter the message that you want to send to the selected users. |
| Servers | Select an Enterprise server in order to send a message to some or all of the users who are currently connected to the server. |
| Everyone | Click this radio button to send a message to all of the users who are currently connected to the selected server. |
| Specific users | Click this radio button to send a message to one of more of the users who are currently connected to the selected server. |
| User list | Select the users to whom you want to send a message. You can select more than one user at a time by CTRL-clicking. |
| Submit | Click this button to send the message to the selected recipients. |
How do I...
... send a message?
- Select an Enterprise server in the Servers field. The field below displays a list of the users who are currently connected to the selected server.
- To send a message to all of the users displayed in the field, click the Everyone radio button; to send a message to one or more specific users, click the Specific users radio button then select the users in the field below. You can select more than one user at a time by CTRL-clicking.
- Enter your message in the field at the bottom of the dialog.
- Click Submit. The message is sent to the selected recipients. The History field displays a record of your recently received and sent messages.
If the recipients do not have the New Messages dialog open when they receive your message, the message appears in their status bar or the New Messages dialog opens automatically, depending on the way in which they have configured Asta Powerproject.
