Link Loop Found dialog
The Link Loop Found dialog appears automatically when you create a link loop - ie a logical error in a plan whereby a link or series of links results in a later task imposing a logical constraint on an earlier activity. For example, two tasks linked to each other with Finish-to-Start links produce a link loop.

Explanation of the fields on the dialog

| Create the link anyway | Click this radio button to create the problem link, despite the fact that it is causing a link loop. |
| Abandon the link | Click this radio button to remove the link that is causing the link loop. |
| Show a view of the tasks in the loop | Select this check box to display a new view that contains only the tasks and links that are involved in the link loop. If you have chosen to create the link anyway, the problem link is highlighted, so you can identify and correct the problem. |
| Check for loops when entering links | Select this check box if you want to check for link loops automatically as you work, or clear the check box if you only want link loops to be found during |

... fix the problem immediately?
To fix the problem immediately by removing the link that caused the loop, click the Abandon the link radio button and click OK. The problem link is deleted.
... obtain a clearer view of the problem?
If you are not sure what has caused the link loop and you want a clearer view of the problem, click the Create the link anyway radio button, select the Show a view of the tasks in the loop check box and click OK. A new view that contains only the tasks and links that are involved in the link loop appears with the problem link highlighted, enabling you to identify and correct the link loop yourself manually.
... specify whether the link loops should be checked for automatically as I work?
To prevent this dialog from appearing automatically when you create a link loop, clear the Check for loops when entering links check box. If you clear this check box and decide subsequently that you want the dialog to appear when you create a link loop, you can reactivate the dialog as follows:
- Click the File tab. The Backstage view appears.
- Click Options. The Options dialog appears.
- On the Edit tab, click Link Settings. The Link Settings dialog appears.
- Click the Settings tab.
- Select the Check for loops when entering links check box, then click OK.
