Chart/Project Properties dialog - Chart tab
You use the Chart tab of the
Chart/Project Properties dialog to enter comments and revision information for each chart in the project. You could use this information to record the person who set up a chart and the last date and time at which it was revised, for example. You can also use this tab to specify the time units in which you want durations and effort to be displayed for each chart - for example, you might want durations to be displayed in days and effort to be displayed in hours in one chart, but durations and effort both to be displayed in weeks in another chart.

To access the Chart/Project Properties dialog, right-click a blank area of the bar chart and select Chart Properties, or right-click the icon of a chart or a project in the project view and select Properties.
You cannot access this dialog if the bar chart currently displays a

Drawn by | Enter the name of the person who created the chart. |
Manager | Enter the name of the manager of the person who created the chart. |
Comment | Enter any comments that you want to record against the chart. |
Programme number | Enter the programme number of the chart. |
Issue date | Select this check box and enter a date to indicate the date on which the chart was issued for approval. |
Revision number | Enter the revision number of the chart. |
Revision date | Select this check box and enter a date to indicate the date on which the chart was revised. |
Revision comment | Enter any comments that you want to record against the chart that relate to its revision. |
Update Child Charts |
Click this button to update the properties of all charts below this chart in the project hierarchy with the information from all of the above fields, except the Comment field.
This button enables you to update the details of a small number of charts at a high level in your programme and populate the child charts throughout the hierarchy with the same information.

Bars | The number of bars in the chart. |
Tasks | The number of tasks in the chart. |
Links | The number of links in the chart. |
Calculate | Click this button to recalculate the number of bars, tasks and links in the chart and in any subordinate summary groups. Depending on the size of the chart, the calculation may take some time. |
Duration time unit | Select the time unit in which you want durations to be displayed in the chart. |
Effort time unit | Select the time unit in which you want effort to be displayed in the chart. |
Baseline |
Select a baseline in this field to populate the fields on this tab with information from that baseline, rather than with information from the live data. Select None to populate the fields with live data.
If you keep the chart revision information up to date and baseline after each revision, you can use this field to review the revision information that was saved each time a chart was revised. |
Is a project |
Select this check box to indicate that the chart represents a project within a portfolio of projects, or clear the check box to indicate that the chart is merely a chart within a project.

How do I...

Enter comments and revision information in the fields in the Chart details group.
Once you have revised the information in the Chart details group, click Update Child Charts to update the properties of all charts below this chart in the project hierarchy with the same information (except the Comment field).

Specify the time units in which you want durations and efforts to be displayed in the chart in the Duration time unit and Effort time unit fields.

Select the Is a project check box to indicate that the current chart represents a project within a portfolio of projects, or clear the check box to indicate that the chart is simply a chart within a project.

Click Calculate to display the number of bars, tasks and links in the current chart and in any subordinate summary tasks. Depending on the size of the chart, this calculation may take some time.

Select the baseline for which you want to view chart information in the Baseline field.
