Task work fields

For each field listed below, the following information is given:

  • Description - the information displayed by the field when added to the spreadsheet or to a text annotation.
  • Parameters - any additional, optional parameters that you can use to modify the information that the field displays or the way in which the information is displayed.
  • Editable? - whether the field is editable when displayed in a spreadsheet column. If a field is editable in the spreadsheet, you can change the data displayed in the column to edit the properties of the corresponding bar, task or allocation.

Actual task work

Description

The amount of work (as specified in the Effort & Modelling section of the Task tab of the Bar and Task Properties dialog) that has been completed against a task by the report date of a specified progress period or today's date.

This information is used when you model consumable resources using the Quantity From Task modelling method, when you model permanent resources using the Work From Task modelling method and when you model tasks in terms of task work without using resources.

For more information, refer to Quantity From Task modelled consumable resources, Work From Task modelled permanent resources and Modelling tasks in terms of task work without using resources.

Parameters
  • Data - whether you want to display information relating to the live data or to a specific baseline.
  • Specific task - specify specific task(s) on a multi-task bar to which you want the field to refer if required.
  • Work details - whether to display just the amount of work (for example 25.00), just the name of the unit in which the work is measured (for example Litre) or both the amount of work and the work unit (for example 25.00 Litre).
  • Work unit - whether you want to display task work that has been measured using any work unit, or only task work that has been measured using a specific work unit.
  • Progress period - the progress period about which you want to display information.
  • Cumulative - if you specify a progress period, whether to display the progress that was completed within that progress period or a cumulative amount, ie all progress that has been completed up to the end of the progress period.
Editable? Yes

Default allocation work rate

Description

A default work rate, specified against individual tasks. If you specify a default allocation rate against a task, this work rate is applied to any permanent resource allocations that are assigned subsequently to the task, overriding the permanent resource's default work rate. Changing the task's default allocation rate has no effect on any permanent resource allocations that have already been assigned to the task. To make a task use the work rate that has been defined against the permanent resource, set this field to zero.

For more information, refer to Specifying a work rate against tasks that overrides the work rate of permanent resources.

Parameters
  • Data - whether you want to display information relating to the live data or to a specific baseline.
  • Specific task - specify specific task(s) on a multi-task bar to which you want the field to refer if required.
  • Rate details - whether you want to display just the rate amount (for example 50.00), just the name of the work unit with which the rate is measured (for example Litre), just the time unit by which the rate is measured (for example Day) or all of the above (for example 50.00 Litre per Day).
Editable? Yes

Planned actual task work

Description

The amount of work (as specified in the Effort & Modelling section of the Task tab of the Bar and Task Properties dialog) that has been completed against a task by the report date of a specified progress period or today's date in the specified baseline. If no baseline is specified, this field displays the number of task work units that have been completed in the live data.

  • Progress period - the progress period about which you want to display information.
Editable? Yes

Planned task work remaining

Description

The amount of work (as specified in the Effort & Modelling section of the Task tab of the Bar and Task Properties dialog) that has yet to be completed against a task by the report date of a specified progress period or today's date in the specified baseline. If no baseline is specified, this field displays the number of task work units that have yet to be completed in the live data.

  • Progress period - the progress period about which you want to display information.
