Link types

You can link tasks in many different ways. A common link is a Finish-to-Start link (FS), where the predecessor task must finish before the successor task can start:

Other link types in Asta Powerproject are Start-to-Start (SS), Finish-to-Finish (FF) and Start-to-Finish (SF):

When you draw a link starting or ending somewhere along the length of a task, the linked tasks will overlap and the link is said to have lead/lag time:

Drawing a link which starts or ends during a task can be a way of indicating that there is a significant event occurring in the middle of the task. Although you can draw these links, for clarity it might sometimes be more appropriate to split the task into two and position the link on the start or end of the subdivided task.

You can find out the type of a link and whether it has any lead/lag time by displaying the Link Properties dialog.
