Outputting projects in PDF format

If you have access to software that enables you to create PDF files, you can output projects from Asta Powerproject in PDF format. Outputting projects in PDF format enables you to distribute views of your projects to people who do not have access to Asta Powerproject themselves.

There are many software applications available that you can use to create PDF files. Some - such as Adobe Acrobat, which is probably the best-known PDF-creating software application - are available to purchase, but there are also others that are available free of charge.

Every software application is different, but once installed, most PDF-creating software appears as a printer in the Asta Powerproject Print dialog - and in the Print dialog of most Windows® applications. If you install a PDF-creating software application, you can output a project in PDF format by selecting this printer in the Asta Powerproject Print dialog.

When outputting a project in PDF format, you can optimise the margins of the output for PDF printing. To do this:

  1. Click the File tab.
  2. Click Print, then click Print Options. The Print dialog appears.
  3. Click the Appearance tab.
  4. Expand the Border section of the tree control.
  5. Select the Trust printer's margins check box to specify that you are printing to PDF and want to print using the full extent of the page as far as possible.

Unless you are outputting a project in PDF format, this check box should be cleared.
  6. Click Close.

You cannot optimise the margins of your output for PDF printing if you are printing a calendar view.
