Deleting library objects
You can delete any Library Explorer objects except the default library objects. For example, you can delete all calendars except the default calendar - as all projects need to have at least one calendar. Some libraries do not have default objects. For example, there is not a default consumable resource object, as it is possible to plan projects without using any consumable resources.
When you delete a Library Explorer object, it is automatically unassigned from any objects to which it was assigned.
As well as being able to simply delete Library Explorer objects, you can 'delete and replace' certain types of Library Explorer object. If you do this, you can select an alternative object to assign to anything to which the object you are deleting is currently assigned.

To delete an object or folder within Library Explorer, do either of the following:
- Right-click the object or folder, then select Delete.
- Select the object or folder, then press DEL.

You can delete and replace the following types of Library Explorer object:
- Calendars.
- Consumable resources.
- Cost and income rates.
- Cost centres.
- Exceptions.
- Link categories.
- Permanent resources.
- Work patterns.
You cannot delete and replace any Library Explorer object that has one or more subordinate objects.
To delete an object within Library Explorer and assign another object in its place:
- Right-click the object, then select Delete and Replace. Provided the object has no subordinate objects, the Select Replacement Object dialog appears.
- Select the object that you want to assign to anything to which the object that you are deleting is currently assigned.
- Click OK.
If you are selecting a replacement permanent resource, you must select a one with the same skills as the resource that you are deleting; if you are selecting a replacement cost centre or cost and income rate, you are warned if the replacement has costs that differ from the object that you are deleting.
If you are deleting and replacing a cost and income rate and the replacement cost and income rate that you select would result in one or more duplicate cost and income rate assignments on permanent resources (this would happen if the replacement cost and income rate was already assigned to a permanent resource), you are warned that the duplicate assignment would be lost if you were to continue.
