The Asta Powerproject environment
You can use Asta Powerproject in the following ways:

If you use Asta Powerproject as a standalone user, you have full access to all projects that you create. You can edit and save any part of a project without restrictions. If several standalone users work on the same project, you can set up each user within the project and define access rights for each one. For example, a Senior Engineer may have full edit access, while a Junior Engineer may have read-only access. Only one standalone user can work on a project at the same time. This applies also if you are using Asta Powerproject SaaS.

If you use Asta Powerproject in an Enterprise environment, by connecting to an Enterprise server, more than one user can work on a project at the same time. When you work in Asta Enterprise mode, objects such as tasks, links and resources are locked to you when you select them for editing. While an object is locked, other users can see the changes you are making but cannot edit the object until you release the lock by saving or abandoning your edits. If several users work on a project, each user's access rights may restrict the edits that they can perform. For example, the Project Manager may have access rights to edit the whole project, while team leaders may only have access rights to edit the sections of a project that affect their own teams.
Working with locked objects
When an object on the barchart is locked to you, the background behind the object is shaded grey. When an object is locked to a user other than you, the background is shaded purple. If the Lock column is displayed in the spreadsheet, objects locked to you are identified with a icon; other users see a
icon, indicating that they cannot edit the object as it is locked.
When an object such as a resource, calendar or code library is locked to you, a icon is displayed over the object's icon, for example in Library Explorer and other dialogs; other users see a
icon, indicating that they cannot edit the item as it is locked.
