Assigning objects from the project view

You can assign calendars, codes, resources and costs to tasks by dragging them from the project view and dropping them on the appropriate tasks in the bar chart. You can assign milestone appearances to milestones and allocations by dragging them from the project view and dropping them on the appropriate milestones and allocations in the bar chart. You can also drag and drop task pools - or subcharts or summary groups within task pools - from the project view, then drop them into the bar chart or into the project hierarchy to create networks of tasks based on the task pools.

If the current view is a calendar view, you can assign objects to tasks in the calendar view by dragging and dropping them from the project view in the same way as you can assign objects to tasks in a bar chart view.

You can assign multiple library objects from the project view to a task by SHIFT or CTRL-clicking the objects in the project view, then clicking and dragging the selected objects onto the task.

If you accidentally double-click a resource or cost centre, you will get an RBS or CBS view of that object.

When you assign objects by dragging them from the project view, they are assigned according to their default allocations. You can edit resource and cost allocations once you have assigned them.

Depending on the way in which each code library has been set up, you may be able to assign more than one code from a single code library to an object. To add a second and subsequent codes from a code library to an object, drag the code from the project view and hold down CTRL as you drop it onto the object.
