Saving a project as a template

If you are logged into a project as the top-level user, you can save the project as a project template, by saving it into the folder that is specified in the Template project path on the File Locations tab of the Options dialog. Once a project has been saved as a project template, you can create new projects that are based on the template project. When created, the new projects will have the same attributes as the template. This is a useful way of creating a number of projects that have similar basic attributes.

To save a project as a template:

  1. Click the File tab, then click Save As.
  2. Click This PC to specify that you want to save the project to a location on your computer or to a mapped network drive.
  3. Navigate to the folder that is specified in the Template project path on the File Locations tab of the Options dialog in the Save In field.
  4. Enter an appropriate file name to apply to the template.
  5. Click Save to save the project as a template.
